I could not wait for death, so death kindly came for me. When the Angel of Death summoned me, I welcomed my departure from this land because life has been great to me. There’s peace and serenity on this journey called death. I took the road of death because I knew that my Master was waiting along the roadside to take me on to eternity.
Mr. Walter Cummings, aka “White Dog, Sandersville, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Azalea Health & Rehabilitation Center , Augusta, GA.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 22,2024 at 11 a.m. at Minton Spring A.M. E. Church, Warthen, GA. Rev. Tracy Wheeler Sr. officiated. Burial followed in the St. Paul C.M.E. Church cemetery.
Walter left this life to return to the open arms of the great creator on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Mathis Cummings and his sisters, Jacqueline Brookins and Dorothy C. Jackson.
Walter is survived by his sister, Naomi (Robert) Asberry of Newark, NJ; his aunt, Rose Piner of Lithonia, Michigan; nieces, Marilyn (Don) Clark of Willingboro, NJ, Leslaine (Brian) Griffin of Blythewood, SC, Robin (Barney) Young of Eatonton, GA, Zenobia Cummings of Newark, NJ, Tammy (Rhodena) Brookins of Smyrna, GA, Sheree Cummings of Newark, NJ, and Patty Brookins of Hillside, NJ; nephews, Wade (Jackie) Jackson of Sandersville, Ga, Antonio ( Minnie) Cummings of Sandersville, GA, Darius (Frankie Lynn) Jackson of Dublin GA, Dwayne (Tonya) Brookins of Union, NJ, Gregory (Tammy) Cummings of Newark, NJ, Anthony (Barbara) Cummings of Jersey City, NJ, Nathaniel Brookins III (Kiyata) of Newark, NJ and Kyle Cummings of Newark, NJ; twenty-seven great-nieces and nephews and twenty-three great-great-nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Frank Simmons of Sandersville, GA, Freddie Blocker of Sandersville, GA, Linda Williams Sandersville and Susan Armstrong of Milledgeville, GA; and a host of classmates, co-workers and other relatives and friends.
