Van Gilmore Obituary

My life was beautiful for as long as it lasted, but the journey of my life has come to an end. Please find comfort in knowing that I have no regrets whatsoever. Somethings in life are impossible for mankind to fully understand and death is just one of those things. No matter how long God has entrusted our loved ones here on earth, their sudden departure is always hard to understand. As a family, I know that your hearts are heavy, so lean and depend on God Almighty for your strength.

Ms. Van Nelson  Gilmore entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 2,2024 at her residence.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 9, 2024  at 1 p.m. @ St.Paul A.M.E. Church, Sandersville, GA. Rev. Tracy Wheeler St. officiated. Burial followed in the Sandersville City Cemetery.

Van Nelson Gilmore was born on February 13, 1957, to the late Claude Mae Gilmore and the late Arnold Gilmore in Washington County. She was employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years.

When God sent his angels to return his lent daughter on December 2, 2024, which was much sooner than we planned, we’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Gilmore, and Carl Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Tiffany Hooks, and Anthony Hooks, both of Tennille, GA., sister, Louise Cannida, Warner Robins, GA; brothers, Dock Rachel, Augusta, GA, Ron Latimer, Sandersville, GA, and Melvin Devro, Wrightsville, GA;  aunt, Dorothy Gilmore, Sandersville, GA; uncle, James Gilmore, Dublin, GA;  cherished grandchild, Tristen Seals, Tennille, GA; stepmother, Dorothy Gilmore, Wrightsville, GA; devoted friend, Charles Cullens, Sandersville, GA; beloved cousin, Otis Daniels, Sandersville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wheeler’s Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements.
