Nellie Ruth (Jones) Powell

Nellie Jones Powell, 85, of Sandersville, GA passed away on July 30, 2025 at Pruitt Hospice in Washington County Regional Hospital after a short illness.

She is survived by her sister Mabel Jones Hodges (Herbert), her sisters-in-law Mary Jones(Harvard) and Judy Powell Frost (Darryl). She is preceded in death by her parents John Montogomery Jones and Willie Pearl Dye Jones, spouse Roy Virgil Powell, brothers Harvard Jones (Mary), Lamar Jones (Kathryn), Johnny Jones Jr and Robert M. Jones (Jan) sisters Mary Willie Jones Andrews (JW), Christine Jones Frost Watts (John)nieces Jane Frost Mitchell (Jerry), Karen Andrews Sutton (James), Monica Holt, Michelle Rollins, Shari Jones Meadows (Darin) and nephews Charles E Watts(Misty), Michael Hodges, Clifford Jones (Glenda) and Shane Jones.

Nellie was a member of Jackson Baptist Church and was baptized at age 9. She taught herself to play the keyboard and loved to play Gospel music. She lived most of her life in Sandersville, GA.
She will be cremated and buried at a grave side service held at Sister’s Baptist Church in Sandersville on August 19th at  1 pm.

Wheeler’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with final arrangements.
