Lizzie McClin Obituary

Mrs. Lizzie Mae McClin, affectionately known as “Tot” entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Washington County Regional Medical Center , Sandersville, GA. 

Graveside services were held on Sunday, March 14,2021 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sandersville, GA. Rev. Cecil Moore officiated.
 

“Tot” as she was affectionately known, was the wife of the late Curtis McClin with whom she shared years of marriage.  Born and raised in Sandersville, GA, she was the daughter of the late George Brown Sr. and Perry (Morris) Brown. She attended the public schools of Washington County.

She retired from Washington County Board of Education after forty-five years of bus driving, where she made history as being the first African-American female bus driver in Sandersville.

Tot also was a faithful and dedicated member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served on various auxiliaries such asthe Missionary Board and the Senior Choir where on any given Sunday she would strike out with her favorite song, “There’s A Lily In The Valley.” She also was a member of Eastern Star.

Lizzie Mae enjoyed many pursuits outside of work which involved family and friends and also making sure that there was never a dull moment while in her presence.

Tot’s memories will forever be cherished by her children, James L. Hood and Belinda D. Hood of Sandersville; six precious grandchildren, Jermaine (Tammie) Andrews, Mikayo (Chris) Ingram, Shandrea (Larry) Reeves, Tabitha Hood, Fabian Hood, and Fabio Hoo; nine great-grandchildren, Zyion Parrish, Kennedi Andrews, Myterrious Ingram, Makayla Ingram, ZorianReeves, Jacob Reeves, Jadarrian Reeves, Jukori Bates and Dorian Watts; devoted sisters, Gennie Mae (Otis) Taylor, Louise (Tommie) Brown, and Perry L. Brown; brothers, George (Alberta) Brown, Jr. and John Brown Sr.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Wheeler’s Funeral Home was iin charge of arrangements.
