Mr. Lester Flournoy Jr., Sandersville, traded in time for eternity on Tuesday, September, 29, 2020 at the University Hospital, Augusta, GA.
Funeral services were held on Thursday,, October 8, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Wheeler’s Funeral Home Chapel , Sandersville, GA .Rev. Tracy Wheeler Sr. , officiated.
Mr. Lester Flournoy, Jr. was born February 8, 1937 in Washington County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Lester Flournoy, Sr. and the late Julia Mae Battle Flournoy.
At an early age, he received Jesus Christ and joined the Middle Hill Baptist Church in Warthen, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Washington County, Georgia and was a graduate of the Thomas Jefferson Elder High School in Sandersville, Georgia in 1956.
Mr. Lester Jr. became an Owner Operator in the early 1970s. He drove his own 18 wheeler Kenilworth truck long distance across the country for many years. In the early 1980s, he owned a Honda 750 motorcycle. He became part of a motorcycle club called the “Screaming Eagles.” Mr. Lester Jr. could drive anything from 2 wheels to 18 wheels with no problem. During his retirement, he was able to enjoy his favorite sports which was football and basketball.
One of his models of advice to his children and grandchildren is “When you put God first and get your education, you will have a better life.”
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Georgia Bell White and Robertha Rowe.
Mr. Lester Jr.’s memories are left to be cherished by his beloved children, Jacqueline E. Flournoy-Peace, Bruce E. Flournoy, Stephanie L. Flournoy-Pulliam, all of Vauxhall, NJ, Gregory T. Flournoy (Benita) of Milledgeville, GA; four loving grandchildren, Jasmine E. Peace, Jason E. Peace, twins Jessica L. Pulliam and Janai L. Pulliam; one great-grandson, Larenz S. Peace-Walton; one brother-in-law, Amos Haynes of Warren, MI; one sister-in-law, Bessie Haynes of Rahway, NJ; nieces, Julia White-Crocker of Atlanta, GA, Sandra Butts of Sandersville, GA, Easter Lynch (Charles, Sr.) of Sandersville, GA, Sharon Butts of Waynesboro, GA, Sherry Dawn McFadden (Wilmont) of Augusta, SC, Dorothy Bivins (Chris) of Oak Hill, FL, and Deborah Martin (Harvey) of Oak Hill, FL; nephews, Wallace Haynes (Regina) of Edgewater, FL, James Haynes, Sr. (Rhonda) of New Smyrna, FL, and Douglas Mike Haynes (Mary Jean) of Oak Hill, FL; a special devoted cousin, Leo Flournoy, Jr. of Sandersville, GA and a host of several other cousins and other relatives.
Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
