Mr. Joshua Johnson traded in time for eternity on Thursday, October 15,2020
Graveside services were held on Saturday , October 24,2020 at 11 a.m. at Lundy Chapel Baptist Church , Macon , GA with Rev. Anthony Corbett, officiating. Burial followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandersville, GA.
Joshua Marquis Johnson, son of Dr. DeRienzia and Vernice Worthy Johnson, born January 21, 2002, passed abruptly on Thursday, October 15, 2020. His sister, Jasmine, preceded him in death.
Joshua dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by his father at Bethesda Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. He continued his Christian journey uniting with the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member.
Joshua began his educational journey in the Bibb County School System in Macon, Georgia, participating in several school activities, including being a running back of the Central Fellowship Christian Academy football team. In 2018, his family relocated to the metro east area of Illinois where his father became the Pastor of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church. He enrolled in Belleville East High School in Belleville, Illinois. As a newcomer to the area, Joshua immediately became involved and made himself known to his peers, joining the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity-Kappa League, the Greater New Hope Usher Ministry, AWANA, Technology Ministry, and the Youth Group.
Joshua received his high school diploma in May 2020. He was accepted at SIUE and was preparing to begin his studies during the spring semester. As a budding entrepreneur, he established his LLC and enrolled in school to become a Real Estate Broker and investor. He was in the process of purchasing his first investment property.
Joshua was a quiet, strategic thinker with high ambitions. He loved football, exercising, working out and listening to music. He was also a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He had a real passion for cars; his favorite was the “Ford Mustang.”
