Mr. Johnnie Y. Kitchens, Sandersville, was called from labor to reward on Friday, October 14,2022 at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville, GA .
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 19,2022 @ 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church,Warthen , GA .Pastor John Kitchens officiated.Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Johnnie, affectionally known as “York” was born January 15, 1948 to the parentage of late Mr. Alton Kitchens, Sr. & Mrs. Dannie Mae Kitchens.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Kitchens Sr, his 3 brothers Alton Kitchens Jr, Glen Kitchens and Willie B. Kitchens and sister Rosetta Kitchens.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Gladys Kitchens; mother ,Dannie Mae Kitchens ,Mitchell, GA ; 4 children, Lewis Kitchens Sr., Shelease Kitchens, Jamie (Lashanna ) Kitchens and Katherine Kitchens , all of Sandersville, GA ; grandchildren ,Adrianna Thomas , Augusta, GA , Shanice ( Stevie) Martin, Ta’Bria Kitchens, Makayla Kitchens, Jamie Kitchens Jr. , all of Lawrenceville, GA, Christian Kitchens, Nariya Dunn and Lewis Kitchens Jr. all of Sandersville, GA; great-grandchildren , Stevie Martin III, Terrance Martin, Noah Kitchens and Jaime Kitchens, brothers; John (Gwendolyn) Kitchens, Tennille, GA and Jerry (Jeanette) Kitchens ,Warthen, GA; sisters, Magnolia Tucker, Wilma Jean Moss, Rosemary (Alfred) Miles, Jennifer Kitchens, all of Warthen, GA , Mary Haines, Ruthie Mae (Nahman) Baker, both of Sparta, GA ,and Elizabeth (Timothy) Britt Thomson, GA ;. brothers in law ,Paul ( Faye) Haynes, Ronnie Haynes , of Sandersville, GA Dennis Haynes of Warrenton, GA; sisters in law ; Dorothy Kitchens, Lillie James, Virginia (John ) Swint, all of Sandersville, GA and Diane ( Garry) Brown of Tennille, GA, aunt ; Brenda Williams, Atlanta, GA , uncles ;Alfred Dixon, Milton Dixon and Ulyess Dixon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survived him.
Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
