Elouise Gilbert

Ms. Elouise Gilbert , Augusta, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 5,2022 at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehab Center, Keysville, GA. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday , August 13,2022  @  4 p.m.  at Union Hill Baptist Church, Tennille , GA .Rev. Tracy Wheeler Sr. officiated. Burial will followed in the Church Cemetery.

Family Hour was held on Friday, August 12,2022 @ Wheeler’s Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

She was born in Washington County on the 23rd of March to the late Henry Gilbert and the late Ceola Cummings.

She attended Royal School in Washington County. She was employed with Tennille Cotton Mill, T.J. Elder School, and Carter’s Manufacturing Company for many years. Mrs. Gilbert loved sewing and fishing and was one fabulous entrepreneur. She loved her family and laughter, and she was well-respected and loved by many.

Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her grandson, Marcus Tirrell Hurst, three brothers, William, Will, and J.W. Gilbert, two sisters, Lovie Cunningham and Ethel Mae Carswell.

Elouise’s memories will forever be cherished by her five children, Lynelle “Jan” Gilbert, Mary  (Antonio) Tyson, Thomas  (Janice) Gilbert, Alvin (Peggy) Gilbert and Tony (Symyra) Gilbert; grandchildren, Terry Miller Jr., Tiffany Brown, Toni Simperson, Riley Gilbert, Shambreka Walden and Taylor Carter; ten bonus grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Tyler “TJ” Miller, Anthony Thompson, Marcus Hurst, Jr., Alicia Anderson, Ava Brown, and Abigail Brown; thirteen bonus great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ceola Jackson, Rosa Stanley, and Dorothy Ramsey; two brothers, Tommy Gilbert and Stevie Gilbert; longtime devoted cousin/friend, Hattie Mae Wheeler and a host of other cousins relatives and friends.

Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
