Obituary
With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the transitioning of Elder Tommy Barnes, Sandersville , on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 1,2023 @ 2 p.m. at Deliverance Center Church , 401 Hall Street, Sandersville, GA. Burial followed in the Sandersville City Cemetery.
Tommy Barnes was born on July 10, 1957, in Hancock County to Ms. Rose Mae Barnes and the late Mr. Charlie Durden.
Tommy attended the public school of Washington County and he later worked at Burgess Pigment Company for 42 years.
He was the Bishop of Deliverance Church of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Charlie Barnes; brothers, W.L. Durden, Eugene Durden, Lonnie Durden, and Curtis Durden.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Patricia Barnes; two children, Shanna and Jason (Quette) Barnes; two grandchildren, Lyric and Tybiaz Barnes; mother, Rose Mae Barnes; dedicated sisters, Renee Jackson and Lizzie M. Durden; dedicated brothers, Charlie (Annie Ruth) Barnes, Clifford (Virginia) Durden, Willie (Sharon) Durden, Oscar Durden, Elton Durden, and Jessie Hill; sister-in-law, Martha Durden, Alma Jean May, and Jane D. Mims; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
