Dorothy Hodges

Mrs. Dorothy Hodges, Sandersville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 23,2021 at  Wrightsville Manor Health and Rehab, Wrightsville, GA. 
 

Graveside services were held on Tuesday  , September 28, 2021  at 11 a.m. @  Camp Spring Baptist Church, Sandersville ,GA .Rev. Darrell Mitchell  officiated.

Dorothy, “Dot”, was born on July 1, 1946, to Eugene Gundy, Sr. and Annie Lee Gundy in Sandersville, GA. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hodges, Sr.

Dorothy attended T.J. Elder High School. She was employed at the State Mental Hospital, William  Carter’s Plant and Royal Manufacturing  until 1995. She worked as a caregiver for many children. 

Dorothy was a faithful servant and served as an usher, on the missionary board and other roles as a member of Camp Spring Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for her family and friends. Soul Food Sundays were the highlight of her work. 

Left to cherish her memories are one child, Marion Hodges (Lynette), Jr. of Lakeland, FL; three brothers, Eugene Gundy, Jr. of Milledgeville, GA, Tommy Gundy of Sandersville, GA, and Michael Gundy (Jackie) of Warner Robins, GA; two sisters, Eloise Gundy of Sandersville, GA and Annie Lois Gundy of Milledgeville, GA; she raised the following as her own children, Shamika Scott of Dublin, GA, Tamika Scott of Atlanta, GA, Gabriel Wicker of Milledgeville, GA, Eugene Scott of Dublin, GA; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and endearing friends.

Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
