Mr. Bernard Nelson entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Augusta University Medical Center.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, August 28,2021 @ 11 a.m. at New Fleming Baptist Church , Bartow , GA . Rev. Cedric Cason officiated.
Bubba as he was affectionately known, was born to the late Willie James Nelson, Sr. and Betty Sue Bostick Nelson in Augusta, GA.
He was a dedicated member of New Fleming Baptist Church in Bartow, GA and attended the public schools of Washington County where he was a member of the graduating class of 1993.
Bernard’s memories will be forever cherished by ,his loving, caring and devoted wife, Cynthia Prosser Nelson of Sandersville, GA; loving mother, Betty Nelson, of Sandersville, GA; two beautiful daughters, Alexis Nelson of Augusta, GA and Kyla Nelson of Jonesboro, GA; two adorable granddaughters, Kylee Nelson and Nyla Thompson, both of Augusta, GA; sisters, Virginia Nelson(Roger Jackson )of Tampa, FL, Sherry (Jerry) Swint of Sandersville, GA, Carrie Nelson of Decatur, GA, and Jeannette Freeman of Sandersville, GA; one devoted brother, Willie (Gail) Nelson of Decatur, GA; several aunts, Sallie Mae Slyke of Ocala, FL, Francis (Ron) Curry of Tampa, FL, and Darion (Henry) Tyler of Ocala, FL; extended aunts, Mary Walker of Warthen, GA, Retha Simmons of Sandersville, GA, and Mary Francis Simmons of Palm Spring, CA; loving and devoted mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Hodges of Sandersville, GA; a host of devoted nieces and nephews; dear and loyal friends, Ronnie (Jackie) Harris, Willie Rachels, Tonya Simmons, Class of ’93, Rodrick (Denise) Fort, Harold Gibbons, Bernard Thomas, Joe (Elizabeth) Thompson, Dieanne Williams; a host of other relatives and friends;
