Mr. Alex Ivey Jr., affectionately known as “Jed” entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2022 at his residence.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 12 , 2022 @ 2 p.m. at Sandersville City Cemetery, Hall St., Sandersville. Pastor Carol Abraham officiated.
Jed”, as he was affectionately known, was born on July 28, 1946, to the late Alex Ivey Sr. and the late Evangelist Annie Ruth Darden Gilbert. He was raised and educated in Washington County.
He was married to the late Mrs. Ola Ruth Ivey and their union was blessed with three children.
Along with his parents and wife, Jed was also preceded in death by his siblings, Willie C. Ivey, Johnny C. Ivey, Nathaniel Parker, Charlie Gilbert, and Bobby Darden, and grandson, Darkell Bernard Ivey.
Alex leaves to cherish his memories, children, Sharon (Derick) Ivey of Sandersville, GA, Alex Ivey III of Bronx, NY, and Kathy (Russell) Ivey Gladden of Bronx, NY; grandchildren, Tyhiesha Ivey, Kendriquis Ivey, Davonte Ivey, Jalessa Hunt-Johnson, all of Sandersville, GA, LaKuan Gladden and Rashid Gladden, both of Bronx, NY; great-grandchildren, Jah'MarcusRenfroe, Jaden Renfroe, Jabri Hunt, JaKiyah Hunt, Ja'DarianDunn, Jacee Darrisaw, Jaden Peacock, Karmen Ivey, Kolten Ivey, Kobe Ivey, Kemorri Ivey and Lyric Ivey, all of Sandersville, GA;
siblings, Robert (Bertha) Darden of Atlanta, GA, Jerry (Helen) Gilbert of Sandersville, GA, Mae Ann Gilbert of Schenectady, NY, and JoAnn (Benjamin) Dotson of Sandersville, GA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Swint-Gilbert of Sandersville, GA, and June Bedford-Darden of Brooklyn, NY.
